Studio Pods by Steeline Canberra are DIY Pods kits that allow you to easily install a secondary space that can be used as a studio, home office, hobby room, pool cabana, home gym, or even a granny flat (subject to council approvals).
To ensure durability and strength, Studio Pods by Steeline Canberra are made with prefabricated steel frames and steel flooring systems.
Colorbond® or UniCote Lux cladding offer customisable finishes to best match your existing home and suit your style.
The roof panels are insulated with Versiclad, ensuring that the pod stays cool in summer and warm in winter. Additionally, there are deck and verandah options available to help you create the perfect outdoor space. Best of all, these studio pods are made right here, in Canberra.

WHAT SIZES ARE AVAILABLE?
We have standard sizes from 10m2 to 20m2, but within reason can make any size to suit your needs.
DO YOU CUSTOMISE?
Absolutely! Our in-house design and detailing team can accommodate your specific needs.
WHAT MATERIALS ARE USED?
Studio Pods use lightweight but strong and durable Truecore® steel wall frames, Versiclad insulated roof panels and Colorbond® or UniCote® LUX steel cladding. This makes them simple to construct, durable and virtually maintenance free.
WHERE ARE STUDIO PODS MADE?
Studio Pods are manufactured in Canberra using Australian steel supplied by Bluescope and insulated roof panels manufactured in Australia by Versiclad.
WHAT IS INCLUDED?
Studio Pods are supplied in DIY kit form. The basic kit includes prefabricated wall frames, roof panels, exterior cladding, sarking and all accessories and fasteners needed for assembly. Optional floor kits include a galvanized steel structure, yellow tongue floor sheet and all fasteners and glue required for assembly.
WHAT IS OPTIONAL?
Optional verandah and deck structures are available. We also offer a range of double doors and windows, or source your own. Premium cladding options are available. Floor kits are optional, or build on a slab or your own floor structure. We can supply piers for your floor kit or use your own.
WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED?
Studio Pods are supplied as a shell kit only. Internal wall linings, architraves, skirtings and floor coverings are not supplied. Fit your Studio Pod out to suit your own needs. Lighting and electrical fit-out are to be arranged by the client.
WHERE CAN I SEE A STUDIO POD?
We have display pods available to view at our Mitchell, ACT facility. We can also show you the full range of cladding options.
DO YOU DELIVER?
We currently deliver into the ACT and surrounds, Sydney metro and the Southern Highlands. Other regions are on a case by case basis – ask us. Delivery charges apply.
WHEN WILL MY STUDIO POD BE DELIVERED?
Your Studio Pod will typically be delivered within 2 to 4 weeks after payment of your deposit.
HOW DIFFICULT IS IT TO CONSTRUCT MY STUDIO POD?
We provide full instructions and phone support. If you are reasonably handy you will find assembly of the structure straight forward. Two pairs of hands will make the job easier and safer. Installation of the exterior cladding requires a little more skill but is achievable for the average handy person with a little time and care; and our expert guidance. Alternately we can recommend contractors to assist.
WHAT TOOLS WILL I NEED?
A driver-drill or impact driver with appropriate bits and some basic hand tools such as a spirit level, tape measure, tin snips and a rivet gun is all you will need to assemble your Studio Pod. As always ensure you use appropriate personal protective equipment.
DO I NEED COUNCIL APPROVAL?
This depends on where your Studio Pod will be located, the size of your pod and its intended use. Studio Pods have been designed so that in many cases they will be DA exempt, so long as you do not intend to use it as a habitable space.
ARE STUDIO PODS SUITABLE FOR HABITABLE PURPOSES?
Studio Pods have been designed such that they can meet the requirements for a habitable space. Please advise at the time of ordering that you intend your Studio Pod to be habitable.
CAN YOU CONSTRUCT MY STUDIO POD?
At this stage we do not offer an assembly service. However, depending on your location we can recommend contractors to assist you with part or all of the process.
DO YOU OFFER A WARRANTY?
Yes, all components of Studio Pods are warranted by the manufacturers. For example, Truecore® steel wall frames are warranted up to 50 years and Colorbond® cladding up to 25 years with these warranties underwritten by BlueScope Steel. Versiclad insulated panels are warranted for a period of 10 years.
